Tu viens d'où?
Where do I come from?
I come from a place where there is space for complexity.
I feel like more and more people see life as black or white, right and wrong.
2 dimensional.
But reality is complex.
The reality is more like a 3 dimensional object.
Life can be seen as two dimensional but it is actually a matter of perspective.
As a human beings, looking at a 3 dimensional object, we can see only a portion of it at a time. We need to go around, flip and rotate look through a mirror, look into it or ask someone else some questions to understand and visualize the whole object.
Those objects are here to remind and show us the complexity of life.
Moreover they present the major or minor changes that a small movement can do.
The effect of the material, the diagonal angel the direction of folding or the movement in our hands while touching them.
Those objects are part of my continues research on fold lines and foldable weaving.
The cotton warp designed in blocks so that it will be possible to control the connection between the warp and the weft in order to create a vertical fold lines.
The horizontal fold lines created by a twill weave.
The diagonal fold lines created by a tapestry technique. In each row there is a movement of one or two picks.
The whole object is weaved at once on the loom. It's double layered so it's create a kind of tube.
And all that left to do once off the loom is fold.
